About the Department:

The Department of Foundations of Education is one of the oldest academic departments that formed the Faculty of Education since its establishment. It is responsible for bridging the theoretical aspects of philosophy, history, economics, and educational applications in areas such as educational policy, planning, funding, and economics. The department plays a key role in preparing and developing educational practitioners and leaders at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as in professional development programs. As part of the 2008 regulations, introduced under the Faculty of Education Development Project, the department underwent a name change, and the disciplines of Comparative Education and Educational Administration became independent fields under a separate department. Furthermore, in 2014, the department’s postgraduate programs evolved to include four specialized academic tracks for the Special Diploma, Master's, and Doctoral degrees: 1. Philosophy of Education 2. Sociology of Education 3. Economics of Education 4. Educational Policies and Planning The department also contributes to the national literacy project through the Adult Education Center and provides educational consultancy services to various societal institutions.
