A new step towards advanced education and international educational partnerships!!
In line with the directives of His Excellency Professor Dr. Sayed Qandil, President of the University, regarding the importance of internationalizing education and establishing partnerships and cooperation agreements with various international educational institutions,
and as the Faculty of Education, Helwan University, strives for joint academic cooperation and promotes cultural and scientific exchange at the regional and international levels,
and under the patronage of Professor Dr. Emad Abu El-Dahab, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research,
and in the presence of Professor Dr. Hossam Refaei, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs,
the Faculty of Education, led by Professor Dr. Hossam Hamdy, Dean of the Faculty, received a delegation from the University of Fukui, Japan. The delegation discussed ways and mechanisms for implementing the Professional Diploma in Education program, specializing in Comprehensive Learning Activities (Tokkatsu) in Egyptian schools. This comes within the framework of the Egyptian-Japanese partnership in education at its various levels.

Professor Dr. Mona Abu Hashima, Vice Dean for Community Service Affairs and Environmental Development",
Professor Dr. Rashida Al-Taher, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research,
coordinating with Dr. Lubna Shehab,
and with the participation of a select group of faculty members from the college.
The visiting delegation included:
Professor Dr. Shunchi Yanagisawa, Vice Dean of the Graduate School for Professional Development,
Professor Dr. Mai Kishino, Vice Dean of the Graduate School for Professional Development,
Professor Dr. Akira Mitamur, and Professor Dr. Mitsuo Yamura, both professors at the University of Fukui.
Accompanied by Professor Dr. Yasmine Sami, Associate Professor at the University of Fukui.
The meeting witnessed extensive discussions on the mechanisms for implementing the diploma and transferring Japanese expertise in the field of Tokkatsu, which contributes to developing teachers' skills and fostering an educational environment that supports creativity and the personal and social integration of students.
During the reception of the Japanese delegation, Professor Dr. Emad Abu Al-Dahab praised the Japanese Tokkatsu system. He also highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation between Helwan University and Fukui University in various fields, capitalizing on collaborative efforts in the educational field, especially given that both universities have numerous specializations that are diverse and distinguished and can be invested in and built upon in the future. Professor Hossam Refaei also pointed to the Egyptian state's efforts to expand international partnerships in the pre-university education stage. As is the case with Egyptian-Japanese schools, and the move to launch Egyptian-German schools based on the Japanese model, Helwan University's active participation in this framework, and its close relationship with relevant authorities, such as the Egyptian-Japanese Schools Unit at the Ministry of Education, which has made efforts to support Tokkatsu activities across its various branches and headquarters.
Professor Dr. Hossam Hamdy also emphasized the importance of offering international programs in Faculties of Education, as they are a fundamental pillar for qualifying competent teachers who are prepared according to approved international standards. This contributes to raising the efficiency of teachers, opens up job opportunities for them in international educational institutions, and positively impacts the reputation of the education system locally and internationally.
In this context, His Excellency indicated that, as part of the Faculty of Education's preparations to implement the Professional Diploma in Education program, specializing in Comprehensive Learning Activities (Tokkatsu) in Egyptian schools, in cooperation with the Japanese University of Fukui; The college intends to provide all the necessary resources required to implement the diploma in a manner that guarantees its success and ensures the achievement of the desired results and objectives. This comes within the framework of the college and university's efforts to enhance the quality of education, prepare educational cadres capable of competing globally, and qualify teachers capable of bringing about a professional leap in the Egyptian education system. The visit program included the Japanese delegation's attendance at the college's annual cultural festival and the opening of an exhibition of graduation projects for general diploma students. The exhibition featured several projects based on the Japanese model and the development of activities based on Tokkatsu. The delegation expressed its admiration for a large number of projects, including the classification of students according to the Japanese model, the development of innovative tendencies, and overcoming problems specific to integration students using Tokkatsu activities. The delegation also expressed its admiration for the mobile classroom model, which is considered a successful model in Japanese schools. The delegation then toured the university's most prominent facilities, including a visit to the Arts and Culture Complex, its attached halls and museums, and the Central Library, which is an active element and a key tool for research and reading for Tokkatsu Diploma students. The delegation then inspected the classrooms and conference venues. Scientific seminars were held at the Faculty of Education, which will be used during the diploma program's implementation. A documentary film was screened about the Faculty of Education, Helwan University, highlighting the college's successes and achievements in various sectors and fields. This was followed by a discussion session on the importance of developing communities of professional practice among faculty members and in-service Tokkatsu Diploma students, to facilitate research and investigation into the Japanese Tokkatsu model (特別活動) and mechanisms for localizing it in the Egyptian context. Both sides emphasized the importance of this program in developing teachers' performance in line with modern educational requirements, and their commitment to continuing cooperation, coordination, and mutual support to ensure the success of the experiment. The visit concluded with honoring the members of the Japanese delegation, presenting them with Egyptian-themed souvenirs, and taking commemorative photos to celebrate and document this fruitful meeting and the initial efforts to launch this promising program and localize it in the Egyptian context. It is worth noting that the continued funding for this project is primarily due to the Education Development Fund of the Cabinet.
