Student Activities

Student activities are programs organized by the university alongside the academic curriculum. They involve actions undertaken by university students to achieve a specific change, which may be political, economic, or environmental, in collaboration with the Student Affairs Unit and the Alumni Unit. These activities are supervised by Dr. Hossam Hamdy Abdel Hamid, the Dean of the Faculty, and led by Dr. Wael Ramadan Abdel Hamid, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and the General Coordinator of the Student Union.

Benefits of Student Activities

  1. Developing Social Skills: Student activities contribute to enhancing communication, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. These skills are crucial for students' success both academically and in their personal and professional lives.
  2. Improving Academic Performance: Research shows that students involved in extracurricular activities tend to achieve better academic performance and excel in exams. This is due to the development of organizational, motivation, and critical thinking skills acquired through these activities.
  3. Enhancing Emotional Resilience: Student activities help increase self-confidence, self-esteem, emotional flexibility, and emotional endurance. These qualities enable students to handle the challenges and pressures they face in their personal and academic lives.

Objectives of Student Activities

  • Contribute to shaping and developing the personality of university students, as these activities raise their awareness.
  • Provide students with the opportunity to build social relationships and learn about the lifestyles of others, benefiting from their personal experiences.
  • Train students to rely on themselves, avoid dependence, and develop self-discipline.
  • Enhance the ability to respect others and collaborate with them, which benefits students in the later stages of their lives.
  • Expand students' awareness on how to use their free time to meet various needs and develop their skills, contributing to the flourishing of their creative abilities.
  • Instill positive principles and values in university students, contributing to the development and progress of society.
  • Strengthen students' ability to harmonize and interact with their surrounding environment.

Provide parallel activities to academic programs that aim to improve the practical application of courses and their implementation in real-world scenarios.

Types of Student Activities

Student activities are varied and cover different fields. Among the most important activities are:

  • Sports Activities: Including all team and individual sports such as football, basketball, swimming, and athletics. These activities promote physical fitness, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
  • Cultural Activities: Including literary competitions, plays, and cultural seminars. These activities help develop students' language and creative skills.
  • Artistic Activities: Including drawing, music, and dance. These activities foster the artistic talents of students and enhance their artistic sense.
  • Social Activities: Including school trips, charity activities, and volunteer work. These activities enhance students' sense of social responsibility and help build positive relationships with others.

Welcoming New and Returning Students for the Academic Year 2024/2025

In preparation for the start of the 2024/2025 academic year, the faculty has coordinated with Dr. Wael Ramadan Abdel Hamid, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Mr. Adel Refaat, Director General of the Faculty, along with all faculty departments, the Student Union, student families, and the Boy Scout troop to welcome both new and returning students. Their activities include:

  1. Organizing student entry into the college.
  2. Distributing application forms to new students.
  3. Guiding students on where to submit their files.
  4. Directing them to the cashier for fee payments.
  5. Assisting students with medical check-ups.
  6. Distributing interview forms and directing students to various interview locations.
  7. Collecting and submitting students' files to the college.
  8. Assisting faculty members in class divisions.
  9. Providing students with their class schedules.
  10. Introducing students to lecture halls and classrooms.
  11. Informing students about all departments within the college and the role of the Youth Welfare Department and the Student Union in organizing activities and supporting social welfare.

Workshops for Student Training

As part of the Summer Activities Plan for Youth Welfare and under the supervision of Dr. Hossam Hamdy, Dean of the Faculty, and Dr. Wael Ramadan Abdel Hamid, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, the college held eight workshops to train students during the summer on various manual skills. These workshops aimed to help students utilize their free time for productive and profitable activities. The workshops approved include:

  • UC MATH Teacher Preparation Workshop for Arabic Mathematics and English students.
  • Calligraphy Workshop.
  • Embroidery Workshop.
  • String Art Workshop.
  • Drawing Workshop.
  • Needlework Workshop.
  • Scouting and Public Service Workshop.
  • Recycling Workshop.

Each workshop had 6-8 students and ran for five days a week in the morning from 10 AM to 1:30 PM. A student exhibition will be held at the end of October 2024 to showcase the products created during these workshops.

The "Student Operation Project" aimed at developing and improving the faculty included:
